Vocational college administrative assistant charged with making false claims of RM22,058

SEREMBAN: The administrative assistant of a vocational college was charged in the Sessions Court, here today (Aug 14) on two charges of submitting false claims for the supply of college office supplies amounting to more than RM20,000.

Foziana Isa, 41, pleaded not guilty after the two charges were read before judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi.

According to the charge sheet, she was charged with the intention of deceiving the college with a payment voucher dated Dec 5, 2022 for the supply of office supplies amounting to RM4,757.10.

For the second charge, the accused committed the same offence using the same voucher dated Jan 6, last year involving the sum of RM17,301.50.

She is charged with committing the act on Dec 5, 2022 and Jan 6, last year at the college near Rembau.

The accused is charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 which is punishable under Section 24(2) of the same act.

MACC deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Azriff Firdaus Mohamad Ali asked the court to impose RM8,000 bail with one guarantor other than the accused's husband and two additional conditions.

Lawyer Noramin Petra Norhanapiah who represented the accused applied for RM5,000 bail as the accused and her husband have six children aged four to 16 with an income of less than RM6,000 a month.

The court set bail of RM6,000 with the accused having to report on the first Saturday of every month at the MACC Seremban Office until the case is resolved.

The judge fixed Sept 13 for mention of the case.
