Two killed in Kuala Kangsar crash identified as mother, daughter

KUALA KANGSAR: The identities of the two killed in a road crash involving two vehicles at Km12.5 Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Manong here have been confirmed.

They have been identified as Sakinah Kamarudin, 37, and her 9-year-old daughter, Aisyah Qaisara Khairul Rahmat.

Sakinah's other daughter, Nur Safa' Rafissah, 10, who was also in the car, suffered serious head injuries.

The mother was on her way to drop her daughters off at SK Lempor in Manong, here, at the time of the 7am incident.

It was reported earlier that the two were killed instantly in the crash.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said police were alerted to the incident at 7.40am today.

"Upon arrival, police found that the accident involved a Honda City, driven by the 37-year-old woman who was with her two children aged 9 and 10. They were traveling from Kuala Kangsar to Manong.

"Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred after the victim lost control of her vehicle while navigating a bend and spun into the opposite lane.

"At the same time, a Toyota Vellfire coming from the opposite direction was unable to avoid the other vehicle and crashed into the left side of the Honda City," he said in a statement.

He added that, due to the impact, the driver and passenger of the Honda City were pinned to their seats, while the rear passenger sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Kuala Kangsar Hospital.

"The driver of the Vellfire was unhurt. Police urge anyone with information related to this case to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Soffian Rosman, at 014-5671803 or 05-7762222," he said.
