Shoe and bone fragments found in oil palm crusher reveal missing man's fate

BANTING: The remains of a man were found in a palm kernel processing machine, after he is believed to have fallen into it, said police.

The victim was an operator at the palm oil mill in Jenjarom, said Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor today.

He said police received a report on the incident on Tuesday about 9.15pm.

"The complainant, who's the mill manager, said one of her employees, a 34-year-old man, could not be found at the location.

"One of the victim's colleagues said the victim had gone for a break about 1pm and returned to his post at 1.50pm."

The colleague said he had then gone for a break about 2pm, and when he returned about 30 minutes later, the victim was nowhere to be seen, added Ridhwan.

"The colleague said the machine the victim had been operating was running on its own.

"The complainant and victim searched the area, and at 5.57pm, they found a shoe, pieces of clothing and human bone fragments at the end of the conveyer belt.

He said no criminal element was found at the scene and the case had been classified as sudden death.

"The victim had started working there only eight days ago."

He said the remains had been sent to Banting Hospital's forensic unit.
