KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to be charged in Gua Musang over his speech at a ceramah during the Nenggiri by-election.
State Bersatu chairman Datuk Kamaruddin Md Noor confirmed this when contacted.
Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, was being investigated for allegedly touching on one of the 3R (race, religion, royalty) issues during the ceramah.
"Yes, Tan Sri will be charged tomorrow at the Gua Musang court over his ceramah during the Nenggiri by-election recently," said Kamaruddin.
Muhyiddin came under investigation after police reports were lodged against him claiming he had insulted the then-King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, for not choosing him as prime minister after he had presented 115 statutory declarations in his support following the 15th General Election.
When questioned by police, Muhyiddin provided the SDs to investigators, plus a letter of acknowledgement from Colonel (Rtd) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim, the senior private secretary to the then Agong, that the latter had received the documents.
The former prime minister had said his speech was not intended to insult the royal institution but was "factual".
On Aug 21, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had said the probe into the case had been completed and the investigation paper handed over to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
