Collision with dog leaves Langkawi police corporal with broken shoulder

LANGKAWI: A police corporal sustained a broken left shoulder after his motorcycle collided with a dog crossing the road at Jalan Kelibang, Kuah, early this morning.

The incident occurred at 3am while Corporal Mohd Syafiq Anwar, 34, from the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) of the Langkawi district police headquarters, was on routine patrol.

Langkawi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said that the victim was riding his motorcycle when a dog suddenly crossed the road from left to right.

"The victim attempted to brake and swerve but collided with the dog, causing the motorcycle to overturn, and he fell onto the road.

"As a result, Corporal Mohd Syafiq sustained a broken left shoulder, internal bleeding in the lungs, and a knee injury. He was rushed to Sultanah Maliha Hospital (HSM) for further treatment," he said.

Shariman said that the Fire and Rescue Department's Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit transported the victim to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
