Five days remand for woman suspected of abusing daughter

SUNGAI BESAR: The 32-year-old woman suspected of abusing her daughter in Kuala Selangor has been remanded for five days until Sept 9.

The remand order which was issued this morning by magistrate Siti Hajar Ali, ends on Sept 9.

The suspect arrived at the Sungai Besar magistrate's court at 8.40am wearing lock-up attire with her hands in cuffs.

The case is being investigated under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.

Earlier, it was reported that the suspect and her boyfriend had abused the woman's five-year-old daughter.

The woman's ex-husband learnt about the abuse through some photos of his injured daughter which were shared with him.

He then lodged a police report.

Acting Kuala Selangor district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ambia Nordin who confirmed the arrests said police are still tracking down the woman's boyfriend who is believed to be in Kedah.
