Man charged with taking RM15,000 bribe for Petronas project claims payment

KUALA LUMPUR: A self-employed man claimed trial at the Sessions Court here today to a charge of accepting a RM15,000 bribe to facilitate a claims payment related to the Petronas Rapid project in Johor.

Mohamed Huzaini Mohamed Hussein, 56, entered his plea after the charge was read out to him before judge Suzana Hussin.

He was accused of receiving the sum through his bank account from P&G Energy Sdn Bhd director Di Thien Chon.

The alleged inducement was to expedite the claims payment process for the cable pulling project at Petronas Rapid in Pengerang.

He allegedly committed the offence at Metropolitan Square in Petaling Jaya on Aug 17, 2017.

The charge was framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

Suzana granted bail at RM8,000 and ordered Huzaini to surrender his passport and report to the MACC office here during the first week of each month until case disposal.

She set Oct 28 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Irna Julieza Maaras prosecuted.
