JITRA: The eldest daughter of retired Felcra finance officer Sabari Baharom broke down in tears after she saw the two suspects accused of killing her father being escorted into the Magistrate's Court here this morning.
Suraiya Izzati, 29, stood at the courthouse entrance, visibly shaken as she wiped away tears repeatedly while the suspects were led inside.
The two suspects, aged 26 and 38, arrived at the courthouse around 8:20am and are expected to face murder charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code for their alleged involvement in Sabari's murder.
Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh yesterday confirmed that the investigation papers for Sabari's murder had been completed and the documents referred to the State Director of Prosecutions, Datuk Khairul Anuar Abdul Halim, last Monday.
Previously, the two suspects were remanded for a week beginning Oct 11 at the Sungai Petani Magistrate's Court to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Media reports had earlier stated that Sabari went missing on Sept 3 after reportedly leaving his home in his Proton Waja.
However, the victim's family was unable to contact him, and he did not return home to Kampung Mengkuang Tengah in Baling before being reported missing.
The mystery grew when his car was discovered burned at a waste disposal site in Kampung Pulau Belantek, Sik.
Family members suspected that Sabari had been abducted by unknown individuals, particularly after several money transfers were made from his account to other bank accounts within days of his disappearance.
Following this, police arrested the two suspects on Sept 27 to aid the investigation, and during questioning, they confessed to disposing of the victim in the Padang Terap River near Derang, Jitra, with his hands bound and mouth taped shut.
A search operation involving various agencies was conducted along the river for three days and was halted on Oct 3 after no leads were found.
