BATU PAHAT: RM126,775 worth of fake 'Siti Khadijah' products were seized in a raid on a house in Rengit by the Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry on Nov 5.
Officers also arrested a 37-year-old woman in the operation.
Siti Khadijah is a popular local brand that sells a variety of Muslim prayer products including 'telekung' (prayer garments), headscarves and prayer robes.
Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the 11am raid was done following a complaint lodged by the legitimate trademark owner.
The ministry's enforcement officers had conducted a two-week surveillance on the house and its operation before finally moving in.
Lilis Saslinda said intelligence gathered revealed that the house was used to store the fake products.
They seized 3,585 prayer garments, 700 woven bags, and 100 boxes bearing the brand's logo, worth RM126,775.
It is understood that the illicit business had been in operation for the past two years, actively selling products online and directly from the residence.
The case is being investigated under Section 102(1) of the Trademarks Act 2019 for illegally importing, selling and possessing goods with a falsely applied trademark.
