PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Bung Moktar and his wife Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Hamid said they were prepared to answer their corruption charges in court.
Bung Moktar, who is the Barisan Nasional Sabah chairman said this when met after the Court of Appeal today ordered them to enter their defence for accepting RM2.8 million related to Felcra investment nine years ago.
"If it's required (by the court's order), we have to comply," he said briefly before heading out from the Palace of Justice building at about 10am.
Zizie Izette, dressed in cream and black, was seen smiling alongside her husband.
The Court of Appeal today unanimously allowed the prosecution's appeal to reinstate the couple's corruption charges after the High Court acquitted them of all charges on Sept 7 last year.
On May 3, 2019, Bung Moktar was charged with two charges of accepting bribes of RM2.2 million and RM262,500 as an inducement to obtain Felcra approval to invest RM150 million in Public Mutual unit trusts.
He was alleged to have accepted bribes from one Madhi, a Public Mutual Bhd investment agent, through Zizie Izette at Public Bank's Taman Melawati Branch here between 12.30pm and 5pm on June 12, 2015.
Zizie Izette was charged with three counts of abetting her husband at the same place, date and time.
