KUALA LUMPUR: Police are currently analysing the computer and mobile phones of a security guard arrested in connection with a probe into forged documents using the name of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that investigators were conducting forensic and scientific analysis on the seized devices.
He also said that the police would seek a four-day remand extension once the current remand order expires tomorrow.
"If the remand application is not granted, we will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions," he said when contacted today.
The security guard, aged 32, was arrested in Samarahan, Sarawak, on Nov 16 after allegedly forging a letter bearing the Deputy Prime Minister's name.
It was reported that the suspect had convinced a man that he could secure a job as a secretary in Fadillah's office, persuading the victim to hand over personal documents.
The suspect then issued the victim a fake appointment letter and an application for government housing.
The police received the complaint after the man realised he had been scammed.
The arrest was made at the Samarahan District Office security post.
