KUALA TERENGGANU: PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli needs to seek forgiveness from Allah for accusing Pas of receiving money from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said as a Muslim, Rafizi should be aware that his accusation was a “300 per cent lie”.
“I forgive him for the sins he has committed by accusing the party of receiving funds (from 1MDB) but he has to seek forgiveness from Allah,” he told reporters upon arrival at the Sultan Mahmud Airport here yesterday evening.
“As a Muslim, he should know very well about what are dosa (sins) and pahala (rewards). He should repent,” he said.
Hadi was responding to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s claim that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had traced the flow of funds from 1MDB to an individual close to the Pas leadership.
In a statement on Thursday, Rafizi claimed to have evidence back up his claim, and challenged Hadi to respond.
Rafizi, however, refused to reveal the identity of the individual, saying he would only do so after lodging a report with the MACC in the weeks to come.
Hadi was earlier welcomed by over 2,000 Pas supporters at the airport, after successfully tabling the private member's bill to enhance the powers of the Syariah courts.
The bill, which seeks to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, was met by attempts from opposition lawmakers to prevent him from moving the motion.
Meanwhile, Hadi thanked those who had supported him in tabling the bill, which he reiterated was meant only for Muslims.
He said he was willing to hold discussions with Barisan Nasional component parties including MCA and MIC, whose leaders may have misunderstood the bill.
