PUTRAJAYA: The magistrate’s court here today granted a seven-day remand order for former footballer, Khairul Anuar Baharum, to assist in a probe into Premier League match-fixing allegations involving three Malaysian Indian Sports Council-Malaysian Indian Football Association (MISC-Mifa) players.
The remand order was issued by magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman.
The 43-year-old arrived here at 9.20am and was escorted by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers.
Clad in orange lock-up attire, Khairul Anuar, better known as “Ah Chong”, appeared calm as he entered the court.
He is being investigated under Section 16 (b) (A) of the MACC Act.
Khairul Anuar was detained after he presented himself to the MACC, yesterday.
On April 11, the MACC announced it was seeking Khairul Anuar to facilitate investigations on three MISC-Mifa players who were arrested for alleged bribery.
The MACC said if Khairul Anuar failed to present himself, action would be taken against him in accordance with the law.
Khairul Anuar is a former player for the Selangor and Negri Sembilan football teams.
