PEKAN: The participation of community groups in the education sector will help improve the performance of students and boost human capital development through education.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said efforts to bring education to a higher level should not be limited to only students and teachers but has to also involve the local community, which encompasses parents and other related parties.
He said research done by a centre in the United States showed that schools which involved community groups in their education enjoy positive results and able to transform the students into high achievers.
"The positive results includes regular attendance of classes, scoring high grades and completing their school homework. This will be the result if the community provides strong support.
"This is in line with our aspirations to develop human capital as the pillar towards the country's development, inputs for the 2050 National Transformation (TN50) and each family can enjoy a better livelihood," he said, during the opening of the Parents and Community seminar he today.
At the function, najib also presented awards to 2016 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia outstanding achievers in the district.
