BATU KURAU: Police are investigating the circumstances behind an alleged typo on a banner supposedly congratulating Sultan Muhammad V on his coronation as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, displayed at the MCA Taiping building.
An image of the banner, which has gone viral on social media, shows that instead of the word “pertabalan” (coronation), the word “perbatalan” (cancellation) is used on the banner.
Acting Perak police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said although the individuals behind the creation of the banner later “corrected” the supposed typo, the police will still investigate to determine whether the “error” was purposely done.
"If it was purposely done, then the case is gravely serious, as it is a threat to the security of the people," he said in a press conference during the launching ceremony of the Batu Kurau Police Station, at the Taiping Police Headquarters here yesterday.
According to Hasnan, police have recorded statements from several individuals to facilitate the probe, and testimony from certain “important people” will be also taken once they return from overseas. -- Bernama
