KUALA LUMPUR: MIC vice-president Datuk Seri S. A. Vigneswaran was this morning sworn in for his second term as senator at Dewan Negara, and re-appointed as Dewan Negara president.
Vigneswaran, 52, took over the senate president post from Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang last year.
He was first appointed as senator on June 23, 2014.
Vigneswaran took his oath in front of the deputy president, Datuk Seri Abd Halim Abd Samad.
Following the swearing-in, minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said tabled a motion nominating Vigneswaran for the post of president, and the nomination was seconded by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
