Settlers want FGV issues to be resolved, says Felda chairman

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad today said settlers are hoping that issues surrounding Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) will be resolved soon.

He said this was what he had gathered based on his observation and feedback from the settlers.

"Many settlers want to see the FGV issues to be settled amicably so that the company can continue focusing on being a high-performance company," he told reporters at a press conference on the upcoming Felda Settlers' Day national-level celebration.

Also present was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.

When asked about the internal inquiry against FGV group president and chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad and chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha, Razali declined to comment, saying one should allow the company's board to conduct their own investigation.

The board was reported to have established a panel from within FGV Group, whereby members did not consist of any of the FGV directors.

During the domestic inquiry process, the board has been advised not to comment and/or interfere with the process.

FGV said the board should only provide the necessary announcement when the panel has presented its findings to them and a resolution has been reached.

This process was expected to take approximately two months.
