SANDAKAN: The execution of four work packages for the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah is progressing well, assured Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
He said the work packages include the 27th package, which is from Mile 32 to Lot M Jalan Sandakan.
Pairin, who is the state Infrastructure Development Minister, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would be visiting Sandakan to launch the work package.
“These are among the 35 work packages and which are currently being executed. The project is running smoothly,” he said during his visit to inspect the construction site for Jalan Kampung Lot M upgrading work, here.
Pairin said the upgrading of road into four-lane dual also involves the construction of a 70-metre-long bridge across Sungai Segaliud and a pedestrian bridge.
He adds that the upgrading of the road at Mile 2 would make driving more comfortable and safe and is expected to bring a huge impact to the surrounding and become a driving catalyst towards a more rapid economy in the district.
With that, he also hoped that the 35 work packages that are awarded to the relevant contractors to be responsible with their deadline so the project will be completed within the target completion date.
