KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno Hari Raya open house this Sunday will be different from the previous years, as guest will be able feast on delicacies from every single state in Malaysia.
“This year it will be different. Each state will have a booth featuring its delicacies such as ‘apam johol’ from Negri Sembilan, ‘nasi dagang’ from Terengganu and ‘mi bandung’ from Johor, among others.
“All state Umno liaison chairmen will also be at their respective booths to present to visitors their traditional dishes,” said Umno media officer Mohd Nasri Zakariah.
Every state is expected to prepare at least 3,000 slices of every traditional cookies (kuih) that will be served to visitors.
Other delicacies to be featured during the celebration include; laksa from Johor, rendang tok and lemang from Perak, kuih akok from Kelantan, and satay Kajang from Selangor as well as 55 roast lamb dishes.
More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the Hari Raya event that is scheduled to go on from 11am to 3pm at Dewan Tun Razak 1, Putra World Trade Centre.
On Monday, Umno executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh told the media that the three Umno wings – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – would also have their own respective booths.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is also Umno president will be present at the open house along with vice-presidents Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
Rauf said several artistes and a celebrity chef are slated to attend the programme as well.
