Nada raids ketum powder processing hub in Kedah

CHANGLUN: The National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) today raided a house in Kampung Belukar here where ketum leaves were being ground into powder for distribution on the international market.

The agency’s Kubang Pasu team, led by its operation chief Mohd Shafieq Ismail, raided the premises at 10am based on a tip-off.

They arrested a mentally disabled man, in his 30s, who is suspected of having been employed to assist in processing the ketum leaves.

Based on sale invoices found at the house, the team determined that the ketum powder was meant for export to several countries, including Thailand, Ukraine, the United States, Canada and Indonesia.
