KUALA LUMPUR: Sales of the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 merchandise have gone through the roof as the opening draws closer.
As the excitement builds for the multi-sport event which will be launched tomorrow here, 70 types of official merchandise, with the official mascot “Rimau” on it, has been selling like hotcakes.
The items distributed by official merchandiser FMStore can be found at stores set up at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil and other venues where the games will be held.
FMStore’s project manager Eddy M.K. said sold from the end of last year, among the popular items are t-shirts, scarves, shawls, bags and pins.
The items appear to be marketed on its own because of the popularity of the event itself but Eddy admitted they had a bit of help from Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin who has been donning their products regularly.
“The products are mainly sold online but with the games starting it will be available at our megastore in Bukit Jalil and people can get their souvenirs there to commemorate this event,” he said adding FMStore will also be opening booths at other venues and selected shopping malls.
“Our products are also popular as corporate gifts because it’s of high quality,” Eddy said.
