KUALA LUMPUR: Five stray cats cared by students of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah religious school, including those who perished in a fire last week, can be seen at the compound regularly.
A school management spokesman said the cats were often fed by the students and when they are at the building, the strays would either go to the first floor or the third floor to eat, sleep or play.
“The students had also requested their teachers to bring the cats to the clinic to be vaccinated,” he said adding the students had even borrowed money from their teachers for the purpose.
Seeing the cats at the compound was heart wrenching said the spokesman as he felt as if they too were curious to know what happened in the fire at Kampung Datuk Keramat.
A total of 21 students and two teachers were killed in the fire which authorities believed was started by arsonists. A total of seven teenagers have been arrested for investigations into the fire.
