KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the early completion of the MRT Line 3 Project will benefit the rakyat.
The company welcomed the government’s decision to carry out the MRT Line 3 Project and have it delivered in the year 2025 two years ahead of schedule.
MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the third MRT line, which is better known as the MRT Circle Line, under the Klang Valley MRT Project will benefit the rakyat tremendously.
“An earlier completion date will certainly allow the rakyat to reap benefits in terms of getting a modern, efficient, reliable and green mode transportation and make their commuting more convenient,” he said.
Shahril said the new line will improve connectivity with the existing urban rail network and this will boost economic activity and becomes a catalyst for development.
He said MRT Corp will work together with relevant agencies to come up with the best way to implement the project so that it will be fast-tracked.
“As with the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line, MRT Corp will ensure that the MRT 3 will be delivered on time and within budget,” he said.
Shahril also welcomed the announcement of the setting up of the National Rail Centre of Excellence.
“This is a positive move to develop the rail industry in Malaysia. We can already see now that this industry has a lot of potentials and the time is right for Malaysians to take steps to move into this industry in a big way,” he said.
