JITRA: A mother of four in Kedah has lauded the reduction of income tax for individuals as announced in the 2018 Budget today.
Wan Noor Ashikin Wan Azizan, 36, said the move is helpful for middle-income earners and benefit couple like her with small children.
Noor Ashikin, an accountant at Kedah Development Corporation said it will also reduce the burden faced by those in lower and middle income groups.
“Since the move will increase our disposable income, we can use the cash for other purposes including to increase our savings,” she said.
She also welcomed the minimum RM1,000 pension rate and the extension of medical services for parents of pensioners.
Her husband, Harizan Abu Seman, 35, a technical assistant at Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) said the in-house master and doctorate programmes would encourage more civil servants to further their studies at higher level.
“It will reduce time and cost to travel to universities to attend classes as they can do so at their own departments or agencies,” he said.
Harizan also welcomed the continuity of 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and the RM1,500 bonus announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as it proves the government continue focus on protecting the welfare of the people.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced today that Malaysians earning between RM20,000 and RM70,000 annually will have their income tax reduced by two percentage point beginning 2018.
He said this would especially be enjoyed by the M40 group with a household income of below RM9,000.
