KUALA LUMPUR: With the year-end holidays and festive season around the corner, Malaysians planning to visit Hong Kong can do so by dropping by at Suria Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to check out the Hong Kong Live travel fair.
The fair, held for six days from today, ends on Nov 12, will provide a variety of exclusive deals and attractions that the Chinese autonomous territory has to offer especially for first-time visitors and Muslim travellers.
Eight travel agents booths selling Hong Kong products and deals are set up at the fair for the visitors to choose from.
Hong Kong Tourism Board Southeast Asia regional director Simon Wong said Muslim travellers need not to worry on the food selections and facilities as Hong Kong has an array of halal-certified restaurants as well as mosques and madrasahs to serve their needs.
"To fulfil the Muslim needs, they can simply download or pick up a copy of the new Muslim Guidebook, Warna Warni Hong Kong or visit the Muslim information kiosk onsite to find out the locations of our 30 prayer facilities and some 60 halal-certified outlets in the country.
"A Muslim friendly pack which consisting a compass and prayer mat will be given out to the first 600 consumers who download the e-Guidebook.
"The tourism board recognised that there is a need to create a hospitable environment for the Muslim travellers and providing them with facilities and guidance so that they too can enjoy the delights of the country without worries," he said at the launch ceremony of Hong Kong Live in Kuala Lumpur travel fair at Suria KLCC here.
He said some half a million Malaysians visit Hong Kong every year, with 114 flights plying the Hong Kong - Kuala Lumpur route ever week.
The Hong Kong Live event was opened by Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government secretary for Justice, Rimsky Yuen.
Among other guests present at the ceremony were Hong Kong Tourism Board chairman Dr Peter Lam, Malaysian celebrities Awal Ashaari, Scha Al Yahya and their daughter Lara Alana.
In Hong Kong, visitors will discover the best attractions and destinations including the Big Bus Tours Hong Kong, Dukling, Hong Kong Disneyland, Madame Tussauds, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park Hong Kong, Peak Tramways and sky100 Observation Deck.
