Rail services disrupted as cargo train derails at KTMB Bank Negara station

KUALA LUMPUR: Rail services in the Klang Valley were disrupted after a cargo train derailed at Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd's (KTMB) Bank Negara station today.

KTMB, through its official Twitter account, said following the derailment about 5am, no train could pass through the KL station, Bank Negara, Putra and Segambut.

The incident also limits KTMB train services to several destinations only; namely Tanjung Malim-Kepong, Port Klang-KL Sentral, Tampin/Seremban-KL Sentral and Batu Caves-Sentul.

KTMB advised commuters to opt for alternative services, such as the MRT in Sungai Buloh, Kajang, Muzium Negara, Pasar Seni and also Subang Jaya LRT.

For passengers of the Electric Train Service (ETS), they would be taken to the Sungai Buloh Station using the MRT before changing to the ETS to their destination.

“For passengers heading to and from the Batu Caves-KL Sentral-Sentul lane, bus services are provided at the Sentul and KL Sentral station.

“The buses are waiting in front of the Sentul station; as for KL Sentral, the bus is waiting at the KLIA Express Departure Hall’s parking area,” KTMB said.

The company apologised for the inconvenience.
