KUALA LUMPUR: A selfie of her balancing a football on her head has landed Wan Nur Hazirah Norizan an iPhone 7 in the New Straits Times Press' (NSTP) Selfie and Win iPhone 7 Contest.
Wan Nur Hazirah said the selfie was her mother's idea.
“At first I thought I won’t make it because it was difficult to balance a ball on my head.
“After more than 15 attempts and tries, I made it through. I took a selfie with it and posted the photo on my Instagram account.
“The photo garnered 141 likes and I guess because of the number of the likes, I beat the other nine shortlisted participants in the contest,” said the 25-year-old librarian from Subang Jaya.
Wan Nur Hazirah said besides uploading selfies on her social media account, she also followed other criteria of the competition.
“I subscribed to all three publications – New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro – for only RM159. Then, I took a selfie with any creative Sea Games theme together with the hashtag #NSTPSeaGames2017."
She said she posted two selfies and a video. It took her a week and two days, she said, to come up with the ideas for the selfie and video.
“I thank my mother, who has been very supportive and helpful throughout the whole week,” she said.
Organised by NSTP's Newspaper Sales and Distribution Department, its Trade Marketing head Mohd Fikre Hashim said the competition was the first selfie contest that the department had organised.
He said the objectives were to increase digital revenue for NSTP publications by leveraging on the KL 2017 Sea Games campaign and promotion, to encourage more people to subscribe with all three papers, reward new and existing consumers to drive brand affinity, and to drive product trials by new customers.
He said the department would continue organising such contests in the future.
