Long delayed Rembau Hospital to be fully operational by September 2018

REMBAU: The long awaited Rembau Hospital which was beset with numerous structural and design problems ever since construction began in 2013, will be be fully completed by June next year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam, said the RM104 million hospital which was supposed to be fully completed by September 2016 is however 82 per cent completed and is expected to be fully operational by September 2018.

"The Works Department will monitor the construction progress of the hospital which will reduce the congestion experienced at other hospitals at other districts in the state," said Subramaniam after visiting the hospital to check on its construction progress.

Also present was Rembau member of parliament, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.

Subramaniam said Rembau Hospital will be part of a cluster system spearheaded by Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban which provides various specialised medical services.

He said from 2018 onwards, patients from Port Dickson and Tampin in need of specialist consultations and treatment do not have to go to Seremban and can just seek treatment at the Rembau Hospital.

Last October, the Health Ministry appointed a new contractor to take over construction work from the previous hospital contractor which was plagued with various setbacks.

Once the 76-bed Rembau Hospital is completed, all of the seven districts in Negri Sembilan will now have a hospital of their own.
