KUALA LUMPUR: “This gift means a lot to my son who will be going for his fourth heart operation this week,” said Albe Qiswati Hamzah, 40, mother of a young heart patient who also suffers from Down Syndrome.
Her son, Ahmad Mohd Nasir, 1, who suffered from a hole-in-the-heart and leaking heart valve condition, appeared cheerful today after he received a bag of goodies and toys from the Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC) and McDonald’s Malaysia organised by the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Albe Qiswati, a teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Beranang, Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan said her fifth child was now also suspected to be suffering from infection after his third operation in November.
“I am touched by the visit and gifts from IJN Foundation and McDonald’s, even though my son is now not healthy, he is happy with the visit by the McDonald’s mascot,” she told Bernama at IJN here today.
Meanwhile, Nuruddin Amin Ezani, 28 the father of a congenital heart disease patient, said his daughter Nur Arrisa Nurruddin Amin, 5, had been undergoing treatment at IJN since she was one month old.
Nurruddin Amin who is from Johor said his daughter who suffers from a reverse heart condition had undergone a second heart operation at IJN.
Saying that Nur Arissa was expected to have another operation this month, Nuruddin Amin said his daughter was very happy to receive the goody bag and school items from the organisers as she was due to start pre-school next year.
For the first time, RMHC held its corporate social responsibility programme this year with IJN to bring cheer during the Christmas season to child patients born with heart disease
According to RMHC treasurer Daniel Chan, 60 children received gifts of school bags, stationery, food and toys from RMHC and McDonald’s today.
“They also participated in colouring and story-telling sessions with the McDonald’s mascot,” he said. --BERNAMA
