KUALA LUMPUR: The Aerotrain services at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) are down again, causing a delay in travel as hundreds of passengers wait for buses to transport them between the main terminal building and the satellite building.
It is learnt that both of the aerotrains, to and from the terminal, has been out of service since 9pm.
Kamarudin Ahmad, who had reached KLIA from Dubai at 11.40pm said there were many people at the terminal as they were waiting for the buses to transport them to the main building.
“Both of the trains are not functioning, and there were many people as you can see in the pictures, as they waited for the feeder buses,” he said when contacted.
In several videos and photos sent to the New Straits Times, the entrance to the trains were sealed with tapes written ‘Maintenance in Progress’, as hundreds of passengers were seen confined in the building as they waited for the transportation.
A Twitter user Lim Chun Jie posted a video of the building packed with passengers, with the caption, “KLIA Aerotrain service down, all (passengers) have to take the bus to terminal.”
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has yet to comment on the breakdown.
This is the third time breakdown this year. In September, MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali had said the two trains, which have been operating for nearly 20 years, would undergo a major overhaul by the end of the year.
