Malaysian superbiker killed in Thai crash

BANGKOK: A Malaysian was killed when his high-powered motorcycle crashed into a roadside light pole at Khunyuam district in Mae Hong Son, northern Thailand on Sunday.

Thai authorities have identified the man as Anthony Dass Pitchai Matu, 55. He was taking part in a five-bike convoy expedition when the 4.30pm accident occurred.

“He lost control of his bike after hitting a road light reflector, (before he crashed) into a light pole,” Khunyuam Police Chief Col Thanadet Prasarnseang said.

Anthony was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to several major injuries. His remains were sent to the Nakornping Hospital, Chiangmai for a post-mortem

Thai police have no information on when the body will be sent back to Malaysia.

It is understood that all five big bikers in the convoy are Malaysian.

According to immigration records, they entered Thailand through the Sadao border checkpoint on Dec 24, and were on their way back to Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
