PUTRAJAYA: Employees Provident Fund chairman Tan Sri Samsudin Osman heads the list of 370 recipients of awards and medals in conjunction with Federal Territories Day today.
He will be conferred the Darjah Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah award, which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.
Samsudin had served as chief secretary to the government from Dec 15, 1998 to Sep 1, 2006. He was also Putrajaya Corporation president from Aug 1, 2004 to July 31, 2012.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V will confer the awards and medals at Istana Negara.
Twenty-two recipients will receive the Darjah Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri.
Among them are Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki and Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Iskandar Mohd Kaus.
Others conferred the SMW award are City police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Saravanan Murugan, Federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd, Puspanita president Puan Sri Rohani Abdullah and New Straits Times Press chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Hamid.
Sixty-nine people will receive the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award, which carries the title Datuk.
Among them are Petronas downstream chief executive officer and group executive vice-president Md Arif Mahmood, Tabung Haji chief operating officer Datuk Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani, Westports Holdings Bhd chief executive officer Ruben Emir Gnanalingam Abdullah, Accountant-General Saat Esa, Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh, and Political Secretary to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan.
Others conferred Datukships include Bank Negara Malaysia deputy governor Shaik Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour, Parti Punjabi Malaysia president Gurjeet Singh Chanan Singh, singer cum Permata Seni Koir vocal master Syafinaz Selamat and popular preacher Norhafizah Musa.
Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan also said another 39 people would receive the Johan Mahkota Wilayah.
He said 71 people would be conferred the Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW), adding that 74 people would receive the Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW).
He said 94 people would receive the Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW) medal, including four national athletes who contributed gold medals in the 29th Sea Games and the 9th Asean Para Games.
They are Muhammad Rafiq Ismail, who bagged gold in men’s tenpin bowling, Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah, who won gold in women’s overall water skiing, equestrian Mohd Qabil Ambak, and paralympian Faridul Masri, who bagged gold in the javelin category.
“Two people with disabilities will also receive recognition, namely Silatul Rahim Dahman and Ong Shin Ruenn. Silatul Rahim, who is visually impaired, will receive the KMW while Ong, who is hearing impaired, will receive the PPW.
“Both recipients, who represent Malaysian Foundation for the Blind and Malaysian Deaf Sports Association, respectively, have always worked with the ministry through various programmes for the disabled, especially in Kuala Lumpur,” he said in a statement.
Among other medal recipients are Senior Private Secretary to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Ali Zulfakar Zainal Abidin, who will receive the JMW and Putrajaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosly Hassan, who will receive the KMW.
Harian Metro Putrajaya bureau chief Hayati Ibrahim will receive the AMW and NSTP Putrajaya photographer Mohd Fadli Hamzah will receive the PPW.
Other AMW recipients are Kosmo Putrajaya bureau chief Junhairi Alyasa and Utusan Malaysia ‘Kota’ desk chief Roslah Othman.
