KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has declared May 9 as a special school holiday in conjunction with the polling day for the 14th General Election (GE14).
Its minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said that all 10,180 public schools nationwide will be closed on May 9, which falls on Wednesday.
“This includes 6,941 schools which were selected as polling centres for the 14th General Election,” he said.
Mahdzir was speaking to reporters after launching the National Education Management School Principals Conference at Berjaya Times Square here today.
The Election Commission today announced that the polling day of general election be held on May 9, while the nomination date will be on April 28.
