KOTA BARU: Political parties should never use mosques as their centre of activities as it will tarnish its real image of uniting the ummah.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, said mosques must not became the centres for political parties and must be zone free from any elements of partisan politics.
"I agree with the resolution during today's imam conference. This resolution aims to turn mosques into an important platform to unite the ummah.
There are already many arguments involving political parties outside the mosques and as the general election approaches, we need a comfortable place to perform our obligation to Allah in peace and the mosque is the perfect place," he told reporters after closing the three-day 2018 National-level Imam conference here earlier today.
About 150 imams from all over the country attended the conference which started on Tuesday.
