KUALA LUMPUR: “We hope all the arrangements for bringing Fadi’s remains back to Gaza will go smoothly.”
Dr Abdul Rahim, a friend of slain Palestinian lecturer Dr Fadi M.R. Albatsh, said the flight had already been booked for tomorrow and the family was hoping that they would be able to make it, without any hitches.
He said the flight would take the remains to Egypt before being taken across land to Palestine.
“But we are still trying, through the Palestinian embassy here, to get permission from Egypt to do so. That is all we need right now,” said Abdul, who arrived at the Selayang Hospital mortuary with Fadi’s 30-year-old widow known only as Enas, and younger brother Dr Remi Albatsh, 31, at 9.30am.
The trio left the hospital at 11.30am after handing over several documents to hospital authorities.
Journalists who tried to interview Enas and Remi were turned away.
At least 20 journalists and photographers were at the compound of the mortuary keeping tabs on developments in the case.
