RapidKl bus ploughs into pedestrian pathway

KUALA LUMPUR: A RapidKL bus driver and 10 passengers on board had a close shave with death this morning when the vehicle ploughed into the pedestrian pathway along Jalan Bangsar.

The 8.30am accident is believed to have happened due to steering malfunction.

Four motorcycles and road sign board were destroyed in the incident. No casualties reported.

It is learnt that the bus was travelling from Kota Damansara heading to Pasar Seni when the incident happened. The 10 passengers then boarded another bus to continue their journey.

A witness, Ismail Mohd Ali, 49, said he was waiting for his motorcycle to be fixed when he heard a loud noise.

“We were outside the motorcycle repair shop when we heard a loud noise, I shouted to alert the others and we immediately ran into the shop.

“The next thin we saw was the bus ploughing into the pedestrian pathway, dragging my motorcycle before it stopped. Although my motorcycle is gone, I am glad that no one was injured,” he said when met at the scene.

The motorcycle store owner, Tan Khoon Yeam, said along with Ismail’s bike, four other motorcycles were also destroyed.

Tan said he was glad no one was injured although he suffered thousands of ringgit in losses.
