Najib to take a short break

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak has decided to take a short break and spend time with his family.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, who did not reveal the details of his holiday trip, said, after serving for more than four decades in the political arena, he needs to take a break and described the 14th general election (GE14) as something personal and intense.

"After over four decades in politics and the recent election campaign, which was regrettably personal and perhaps the most intense in Malaysian history. I will take a short break to spend time with my family whom I have not seen enough of in recent years.

"I pray that after this divisive period, the country will unite. I apologise for any shortcomings and mistakes, and I thank you, the people, for the opportunity to lead our great nation. It has been the honour of my lifetime to serve you and Malaysia," he said through his twitter account, @NajibRazak, today.

It was reported last night that Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor had booked a private plane which would depart for Indonesia, from the Skypark Terminal at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport.

Denying the allegations, Najib said the BN leadership is committed to respect the voices of the people, hence would assist to ensure a smooth transition in power.

"My Barisan Nasional colleagues and I are committed to respecting the will of the people and facilitating a smooth transfer of power.

"The best interests of Malaysia and its people will always be my first priority and I intend to continue serving them in whatever capacity I can," he said.
