ARAU: Datuk Seri Azlan Man was sworn in today as Perlis Menteri Besar for the second term at Arau Palace here, ending 14 days of political uncertainty in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony was held before the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail about 11.10am.

Azlan, 60, who won the Bintong state seat was reappointed as MB after Barisan Nasional retained control of Perlis by winning 10 out of 15 state seats in the 14th General Election.

Pakatan Harapan won three seats while Pas won two.

The swearing-in ceremony today ended the crisis surrounding the appointment of the Perlis Menteri Besar, which has been delayed for two weeks after GE14 on May 9.

The crisis unfolded after Perlis BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim tapped his younger brother, Tambung Tulang assemblyman Datuk Ismail Kassim to become the new state MB.

Meanwhile, the political unrest within Perlis BN may have taken a turn for the worse after nine BN assemblyman failed to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

They are believed to be in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, all Pakatan Harapan and Pas assemblymen were present.
