TASEK GELUGOR: Investigations into alleged misconduct and malpractices in the Defence Ministry will begin after the Hari Raya holidays.
Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said former Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, who was recently appointed to head the special investigation committee on procurement, governance and finance, would begin the task after setting up his team and an office.
No time frame has been fixed.
“An official meeting involving those concerned will be held soon after the festive season.
“(Tan Sri) Ambrin is more than capable in carrying out the forensic audit,” he told newsmen after his Hari Raya open house here today.
Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu, said although he had heard of “scandals” in his ministry, action could not be taken based merely on hearsay.
He however did not go into details.
“We will provide whatever information we have to Ambrin to enable proper investigations to be carried out.
“Let him and his team get to the bottom of things,” he added.
On June 6, Ambrin was appointed to head the committee.
The first ministry he was tasked to look into with was the Defence Ministry, which was previously headed by Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
