KAJANG: Following the death of Balakong state assemblyman Ng Tien Chee in a crash at Kilometer 11.7 Grand Saga Highway, Cheras, the highway authorities have put up warning signs on road works being carried out.
A warning board installed within one kilometer of the site informs consumers about the pavement and road maintenance work done last night.
NSTP’s reporters found that in addition to the usual warning signs, an electronic warning signboard has been mounted on the highway informing about the ongoing work.
This enables drivers to slow down and be ready to change lanes.
A one-hour survey which begun at 12 midnight found traffic flow at both directions of the route, near the crash site at the Kuala Lumpur-Kajang Highway, was smooth flowing.
A check at Loke Yew Highway from Pandan Jaya to Jalan Sungai Besi showed that the management of the highway had put up cones for 100 meters before maintenance work was done at the highway near Taman Shamelin, Cheras.
This was to enable highways users who usually driving at speed to be ready to slow down their vehicles while passing through the road repairs.
At the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), from Jalan Semarak to Jalan Duta, no cleaning or maintenance works were being carrying out but some cones were placed on the divider, believed to be for the ‘Tidal Flow’ process on weekdays.
