KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh) offered his prediction that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will not be able to last the term.
He said his prediction was based on observation of world history that had witnessed the failure of new governments that came into power after ousting older governments.
"Look at the Janata Party (JP), it fell in three years after defeating the Indian National Congress Party. And the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) also fell in three years after defeating the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
"Will the PH government suffer the same fate? We don't know how long but I predict they won't last the term... the government may change," he said in his speech during the debate on the King's opening address in Parliament, today.
JP ruled from 1977 to 1980 and fell due to internal conflict and differences in ideology which led to their inability to tackle India's problems effectively.
The DPJ ruled between 2009 and 2012 but was dissolved because they could not fulfill their reformation struggles due to economic and voter restraints.
Annuar said he had yet to see the government work towards fulfilling their election promises.
"Today the rakyat are restless when many promises are not fulfilled. The rakyat are worried when the government is still rooted in sentiments and vengeful efforts, as well as taking cosmetic approaches.
"Rakyat is actually waiting for the government to bring good changes to the country. We want to ask the government, what are their promises and targets to at least maintain the progress left by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government," he said.
