KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is required to be present at a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) office today for questioning.
A source close to the anti-graft body confirmed that the commission has asked Najib to be present at their office in Jalan Duta at 5pm today.
However, it could not be ascertained whether Najib would be questioned over an investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) or over the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.
Another source also revealed that Najib is expected to face three additional charges involving money laundering at the Sessions Court tomorrow morning.
The charges are said to be under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2002.
The Pekan parliamentarian faces up to 15 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of the proceeds of unlawful activities, or RM5 million, whichever is higher, if found guilty, upon conviction.
Najib is also expected to be at the High Court tomorrow for the hearing of his criminal breach of trust and power abuse cases.
On July 4, Najib claimed trial on three counts of criminal breach of trust and another charge of abuse of power involving RM42 million linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
Checks at the court complex show that police have cordoned off part of the premises in anticipation for tomorrow's proceedings.
A commotion broke out at the premises on the day Najib was charged when Attorney-General (AG) Tommy Thomas was about to give his press conference.
A group clad in red shirts and scarves suddenly shouted Bahasa Kebangsaan and Bahasa Malaysia as Thomas approached the pressmen at the court’s lobby.
