GEORGE TOWN: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) will soon embark on an extensive migration exercise to a new core banking system to improve its service deliveries.
The exercise will take place over the National Day holidays – peaking at between Aug 31 and Sept 4 – and involve 6,000 employees.
As such, all BSN banking services – with the exception of credit card purchases – will be unavailable during the migration exercise.
“The system migration (was scheduled for the) National Day holidays to allow for branch closures and (to) affect the least number of customers.
“We have taken steps and measures to notify our customers via SMS blasts, alerts in our social media platforms, website, account statements and notices placed at all our branches nationwide, since July, on the scheduled system migration.
“We take this opportunity to thank all our customers in advance for their patience and understanding,” BSN chief executive Datuk Yunos Abd Ghani said in a statement today.
He said the implementation of the new core banking system is a significant milestone for BSN, which aims to provide every Malaysian the opportunity to enjoy a better lifestyle through its extensive network and range of services.
“With the new Integrated Core Banking System implementation, BSN looks forward to exciting new capabilities in our growth journey,” Yunos added.
Incorporated in 1974, BSN has over nine million customers nationwide, with retail deposits amounting to RM15.39 billion as of June this year.
