PUTRAJAYA : The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has established a family, social and community service centre at Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin (MTMZA) here.
The centre which is known as Pusat Khidmat Keluarga, Sosial and Komuniti (KSKCareCentre) is the first of its kind in the country.
The KSKCareCentre was setup to a referral centre where people could get advice and counseling service through Islamic treatment and therapy.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh said the counseling centre was needed to help people to find solutions to their problems.
She said individuals who had problems often isolated themselves as they do not know to whom they should speak about their problems.
“We want our society to do away with their hesitation in seeking a counselor’s advice as they fear they may be judged by others,” she said,
“In Western countries, seeking the help of counselors when faced with problems is a normal thing. There is nothing to be shy about.
“If anyone is facing problems, please reach out to a counselor before the problems grow bigger and become harder to resolve. This is important to protect family institution,” she said after launching the KSKCareCentre@MTMZA here today.
KSKCareCentre@MTMZA will operate everyday, starting this Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
Some 18 counselors and facilitators are housed at the centre to provide help and assistance to the people.
Jakim has also prepared 12 modules as a reference base for counselors and facilitators to settle the social problems faced by Muslims with approaches based on the Quran and the Hadith.
