KOTA BARU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa can be described as a person having little knowledge in religious matters and laws when he issued the statements related with vice activities and khalwat.
State Islamic Development, Dakwah, Information and Regional Relations committee chairman Datuk Nassuruddin Daud said he believed Mujahid’s level of education was also low and this should not happen to a minister like him.
“His remarks showed that his religious education is not deep and he also has lack of knowledge on religious laws.
“I have no intention to comment further. I have discussed this issue with Kelantan Mufti (Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad) and have directed him to give his comment on this issue,” he told NSTP when contacted today.
Nassuruddin was commenting on Mujahid’s remarks recently on the vice activities and khalwat raids.
In an interview Mujahid had with a local daily recently, he mentioned that he would be engaging with religious agencies at state levels on khalwat raids at people’s homes, specifically those that involve breaking down doors to arrest offenders.
Mujahid had said that what Muslims do behind closed doors was none of the government’s business.
The article noted that Mujahid was against knocking on doors in the middle of the night by religious authorities investigating reports of khalwat.
