Molest claim: Puzzled Shahidan mulls legal action [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim is curious why news of his alleged sexual misconduct with a teenager was spread even after the police report was withdrawn.

The Arau MP said he found it peculiar that the case went viral a week after the report was retracted by the teen’s family.

“I am asking why is the issue viral now. I will speak to my lawyers to see what I can do next,” he said in a press conference.

“What happened was only a misunderstanding so please stop spreading the news,” he said, while blaming the media for sensationalising the issue.

“As a politician this is normal but pity the girl and her family.”

Shahidan claimed that he had met the 15-year-old vocalist along with her busking group after watching them perform on Oct 20.

He later donated some money to the group’s manager.

Shahidan also said that he had a conversation with the family of buskers including the girl who were outside his vehicle.

He however remained inside as he could not walk. The car is where the alleged molestation reportedly took place.

Asked if the girl. from Arau, Perlis, was in the car with him, Shahidan declined to comment.

“I have given my statement to the police, I leave it to them entirely.”
