CAP to receive IIUM's inaugural Ibnu Khaldun award

GEORGE TOWN: Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) will be conferred the Ibnu Khaldun Merit Award by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) this Saturday.

The conferment of the inaugural award, in recognition of CAP's huge contributions to Malaysian society, especially in terms of consumer awareness and campaigns, will take place at the university's campus in Gombak.

IIUM Rector Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, in a statement, said this is the first time the university conferred an award to an organisation.

"It is hoped that this will open more doors for the university to develop closer ties with the society at large," he said.

IIUM will also be having its convocation ceremony from Nov 10 - 13.

CAP, established in 1970, is a non-profit organisation focussing not just on consumer-related issues but also advocates ethical consumption, healthy lifestyle and highlighting the needs and rights of the underprivileged.
