KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore has described an article claiming that its Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be next to be investigated in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) probe as fake news.
Singapore High Commission in Malaysia, in a statement last night said the article, published by online news portal, The Coverage today, as "fake news and clearly libellous".
"I refer to the article dated 7 November 2018 in The Coverage titled “Breaking News: Singapore Lee Hsien Loong becomes 1MDB’s key investigation target – Najib signed several unfair agreements with Hsien Loong in exchange for money laundering”
"The High Commission of the Republic of Singapore in Malaysia would like to categorically state that this article is fake news and clearly libellous." the statement read.
Checks showed the report was sourced from a blog ST Review, based on an article published on Nov 5.
