KUALA TERENGGANU: A cryptic message left by Abdul Bari Asyraf Mohd, 31, on his Facebook account in November which suggested an impending death has caught the attention of netizens.
“Yang aku takut jika ajal yang tibe (tiba) dulu,” (The thought of dying terrifies me)." he wrote.
Abdul Bari was feared drowned in an attempt to rescue a family of five at the Sungai Terengganu estuary near Pulau Warisan here last night.
The status, uploaded on Facebook on Nov 14, has since garnered reactions from netizens who expressed sympathy for Abdul Bari’s death, calling him 'a hero' and praying that his body would be found soon.
In the 9.40pm incident, Abdul Bari was said to have gone fishing with his friend when a four-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Storm with five inside plunged into the river.
It is learnt that Abdul Bari was the first to jump into the river to rescue the victims.
Five other people at the scene also joined in to help.
The five in the vehicle, Suryati Rusly, 37; Nordiana Alwani Jaafar, 33; Asmaa Rusly, 23; Syafawani Jaafar, 11; and three year old Iman Nur Hana Luthfia Mohd Amiruddin were rescued and are now being treated at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.
