KUALA TERENGGANU: The drawbridge opens tomorrow and members of the public can make use of the 'Payang Water Taxi' service to take selfie photos with the new Terengganu’s iconic structure in the background.
Zakaria Dagang, chairman of Cas Ligas Sdn Bhd, which operates Payang Water Taxi, said passengers could enjoy the 'Selfie at Drawbridge' package on the boat while cruising along Sungai Terengganu at only RM5.
"Even during Ramadan, the coastal area adjacent to the drawbridge is filled with locals who break their fast with the drawbridge in the background. It offers a very nice view.
“We are using this opportunity to make some income. God willing, when the bridge is fully opened, more will come and we promise better service,” he told Bernama.
The latest package started in April using two 42-person passenger boats, and the response has been very encouraging, thus far.
“As a trial, the boats operate every Friday and Saturday from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. During the one-and-a-half hour period, the trips are always loaded with passengers,” he added.
Apart from that, Payang Water Taxi, which operates since July 2018, also offers several cruise packages along Sungai Terengganu. Passengers can take pictures at attractive areas along the river, with prices ranging from RM5 to RM10.
There are two routes available at Payang Water Taxi. Route A starts at Pulau Warisan Jetty, and cruising along several areas including Duyong Marina & Resort, Jeti Seberang Takir and the drawbridge.
Route B will carry passengers to Masjid Kristal, Pulau Pasir, Duyong Marina & Resort, Hoist and Pesisir Payang.
Visitors will also be brought to the Dantai D'River Warehouse in Kampung Pasir Tinggi here to enjoy fish head curry at RM68 per person.
The 638-meter drawbridge with two 16-storey tall towers will open for test run tomorrow until June 17. –BERNAMA
